Capricornus or
"life out of
death" is our next
sign.
Although it is not easily recognized in the sky and doesn't
have
any bright stars, it is no less meaningful.
Capricornus, symbolized by half goat and half fish, is
significant in two ways.
The goat was a sacrifcial animal in the old testament, and
was mentioned in
in Leviticus 9: 1-3 as a sin offering. In ancient languages
other meanings
for the constellation was "kid" and "cut
off".
If we look at the star
meanings as Al Gedi, "the
same",
Daneb Al Gedi,
"the sacrifice comes",
Dabih, "the sacrifice
slain", its definition
becomes clearer.
From its portrayal as a dying goat, or sacrifice slain,
comes a living fish.
The fish, with the advent of christianity, has symbolized
the church or its
multitudes of people that would come forth.
In Matthew 4:19 Christ called his disciples to be fishers
of men.
Even in Jeremiah 16:16 it says the Lord we will send for
many fishers...
and they shall fish them.
As we look at Capricornus and
its surrounding constellations,
meaning, "life out of death", is distinguished.
From the sacrifice comes atonement for those wishing
to be in the redeemed for all eternity.
