Jupiter Viewing - DuQuoin Fair
During our time at the
fair booth we also tried out a Bible Quiz. Amazingly
enough people from all ages were asking to take a
Bible quiz. If someone got one wrong they wanted to
take it again. We had numerous people donate toys,
stuffed animals and the like, for the larger gifts if
they got all three questions correct. If they got one
question wrong they chose a gift from the basket,
which contained little baggies with Itty-bitty Bible
Story books, with a bandaide, pencil sharpener,
dental floss, stickers or anything we could find that
was cost effective in with the book. Even children
chose the book 'Steps to Christ' as a gift. We were
fortunate to have a case of Bibles donated, and some
of these booth guests chose a Bible. We were very
surprised at how many children and youth never heard
the Bible Stories. The questions were placed on 2"x
9" card stock and they picked out 3. On each card was
a question and 3 multiple choice answers. If some
people exerted a good knowledge of the Bible they
were not offered multiple choice, because the
questions were quite easy. We had many people visit
our booth, even if it was for a cold drink of free
water that was provided. Our thinking gears are
working already for next year. Like a 10 foot image
of Daniel 2 and a sign stating 'YOU ARE HERE' at the
feet. Or a sign that says 'FREE FOOD and WATER.
Inside a sign ' Free Spiritual Food' available, and a
sign 'For those who hunger and thirst after
righteousness', 'Living Water available here' Oh how
the Lord can lead us in our endeavors if we only
allow Him to take the lead. Elder Gates brought his
25 foot Anaconda snake skin for people to touch. What
an experience for those to see and touch. One day we
had nurses taking blood pressures. Thousands of
people attended that fair. We were privileged to have
a part in it by sharing for 10
days.
